Here's a brief introduction to our people.

Simon BallTOP^

Simon is the Managing Director of AFA, a role he has carried out since 2005. A qualified solicitor, he has in-depth understanding of the claims market in the UK together with a French legal qualification and knowledge of other European legal systems. He is recognized as an expert on comparative law and frequently gives talks on the subject in the UK and in Europe.

Hélène HartleyTOP^

Hélène Hartley is of both French and British nationality. She obtained her Baccalauréat with honours at the French Lycée in Central London, before attending Bristol University, where she obtained an MA in modern languages and linguistics, with distinction.

She first joined AFA Ltd in 1993 where she trained for five years before moving to Van Ameyde to develop and lead a team of multi-lingual claims handlers, dealing with pan-European, predominantly motor claims, later joining the management team to research, enforce and monitor national and European compliance issues.

Hélène returned to AFA Ltd in 2004 to become Claims Manager. She has a wide experience in cross border claims encompassing motor liability, MIB claims, product liability, travel claims and criminal injuries.

Julie ChartertonTOP^

Julie is the Technical Claims Manager, dealing with high value and complicated cases, in particular 4th Directive cases and is also responsible for in-house training and development. Fluent in both English and French, she has over 20 years experience of handling cross-border claims.
